“For decades the science has been screaming at us, trying to compel us to act..” Kerry added that “Science is and has long been crystal clear when it comes to climate change.”

He gave an impassioned plea to look at the science explaining that climate change is “Fact based, evidence supported, peer reviewed science, and yet if you listen to some people in Washington or elsewhere, you would think there is a question whether climate change really is a problem or if we really need to respond to it.

He compared it to the laws of physics and that science tell us gravity exists, and that no one disputes it. ” Science tells us that our climate is changing and human beings are largely causing that change, but what right to people stand up and just say I dispute that or I deny that elementary truth.”

He went on to discus public officials banning climate change as a waste of time and burying one’s head in the sand. No one in good conscience has a right to ignore climate change.

Kerry said the solution to climate change is “not a pipe dream. It’s a reality.” He said “It’s right there. And it’s up to us to grab it,” he said. “The question is whether or not it is beyond our collective resolve.”
